What's better?
I'm trying to decide if I should use +30 HP or +5 Armor on a melee weapon. Somewhere, I thought I read that mathematically the max armor on the weapon is more beneficial than the hit points. I can't find that thread, so I thought'd I'd just ask here. Thanks for any help.

Depends on what you're fighting -- generally speaking, the armor is usually better over time against things that do "external" (physical and elemental damage - arrows, swords, fireballs, lightning bolts, etc.), but the hp bonus is better against most degen and armor-ignoring damage (illusion, shadow, smiting, poison, etc.).

lots of arguing but some information in there too. basically, + armor has the potential to mitigate a lot of dmg, while +30 hp will only add 30 points of dmg absorption. then again, the + armor will do nothing for armor ignoring or degen dmg. i consider them about even, with the cost factor giving + armor the clear edge. then again, it can be good to have some + hp in pvp. so basically, its up to you. |

Thanks. And that was the thread I was looking for. I'm running late NF PvE with my Derv and other than a few careless mistakes with bosses, I seem to rarely get in any trouble (don't know if a 5 Lightbringer is doing that). I've pumped up with the Derv armor enchant bonus insignia so I may just stick with the HP mod for now.
